To Drink or Not to Drink

Coffee that is.  Yes to Coffee, No to Coffee, it's a never ending battle - I really enjoy it and I quit last year -but since I quit everything else, coffee was the one thing I brought back in- but at far fewer cups.  Now I'm re-thinking it again, this time with more reasons than the "it dehydrates you" reason, check this out from my friends over at Hungry For Change!  It's a rather lengthy article, so grab a cup of coffee (ha ha) or tea and hear what they have to say. Wheatgrass Nature's Miracle Juice!

I'm trying something new today - Juiced Wheatgrass!  The health benefits of Wheatgrass are suppose to be great!   Here's what my local Juice establishment "The Juicery" says about it.  "Nature's miracle juice!  Two ounces of this equals the nutritional value of over 4 pounds of green vegetables".
Today I tried my first one!   I have to admit, it wasn't that bad but it did taste a little like eating the lawn!  Ha!

I So as I continue improving what I put into my body, it just seemed like a natural to give Wheatgrass a try.  The Juicery's material goes on to say "...Wheatgrass is one of the richest sources of vitamins A and C,  contains a full spectrum of B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, 92 trace minerals, and has been credited with selectively destroying cancer cells."   Sounds good to me!

So today is Day 1.   I'll keep you posted on how I feel at the end of a month of daily Wheatgrass shots!  Mind you, I continue to juice daily - Super C and Mean Green

Milestone #2 - One Year Of Juicing!

 HOW DO I FEEL?

I feel GOOD! I knew that I would!  So Good! So Good!

I have been Juicing for 1 year today -  One year ago I gave up:
Red Meat
Dairy
Eggs
Processed Food
Alcohol

I have successfully incorporated Juicing into my every day lifestyle - Well about 99.9% of the time.

I have learned to eat entirely different than the way I use to - incorporating RAW and LIVE plant foods into my daily diet.

I'm still learning to substitute things for the more healthier choices such as using Agave Nectar instead of Sugar,  using Almond Milk when something calls for milk,  Using brown rice in place of white rice, eating Sweet potatoes instead of White potatoes.

Simple BUT incredibly healthy food choices - and surrounding it all with Juice -

Today I begin the next chapter in my journey - and it is my goal this year to incorporate a more consistent exercise routine into my daily life - This I started last year, but I just couldn't get hold of making it an everyday thing - While I enjoy the gym when I'm there, it's the getting there part I don't like.   I modified my business schedule last year so I could get in and out of the gym before the hoards of people, but then I went on a business trip in October, and fell off the Bicycle so to speak. So that is my goal this year!  To make exercise a normal part of my life - in addition to my continued hunger for eating healthy.

I never did reach my ultimate goal for that last 10 pounds - but I'm not worried nor am I scared - as I have taken the steps in the right direction, and as long as I'm FEELING GOOD,  I'm OK!

Time to go make some juice!

Milestone #1 A Year Without Smoking!

One Year Ago today I wrote a Blog Post that I had stopped smoking and quit drinking coffee.
(click here to go to that post)

I am proud to say I have been Smoke Free for ONE YEAR!  In my original post, I mentioned that I was going to use Equate Nicotine Gum for 12 weeks to help me - Well,  I used it for ONE week - then I just stopped!

So, How do I Feel?  Well first of all I have  NO DESIRE TO SMOKE! I know that I've done something very good for my health, I'm saving myself about $7.00 a day (add that up per year), I don't have stinky smelly clothes, My car doesn't stink, (I never smoked in the house so that one was saved), I don't have to stand outside of the house, office or restaruant now in Rain or freezing weather so I can get my fix.  I don't have to take my own car just so I can smoke. I don't have the food cravings they talk about (but I'll talk talk that in another post).   I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN SET FREE from a ball and chain -   It's a freedom you can only appreciate when you've stopped.  As while I was doing it I could rationalize all day long that while I knew I should quit - I enjoyed it.  I still have friends who smoke and it surprises me that it doesn't even bother me - I don't feel the urge to have one, quite the opposite - It makes me feel even stronger that I finally quit.  YEAH!

Now with regard to Coffee - I wasn't 100% successful in that attempt- HOWEVER!  I have reduced the amount of coffee I consume to  one (Large) cup of coffee a day now - AND I use Almond Milk, no sugar!  My tea supply is growing every day and I'm especially fond of Chai Tea!

There have been so many changes to my "Intake" that coffee was the one that I let slide -  But I am working on that....

So, I'm happy with my progress thus far!
