For Every Door That Closes A New One Opens

For every door that closes a new one opens.
Well, I'm sad to say that Serving Fresh Raw Juice and Blended Smoothies, didn't quite work out over at Yogurt Licious. As of last Sunday, Yogurt Licioius closed their doors.

Why did Yogurt Licious close - There were numerous reasons -  KMart closed, the location wasn't really conducive to walk up traffic, other Yogurt Shops opening in the area, restrictions put on the business because of a no compete with Panera (no salads, no soups, no sandwiches, no cocoa, no coffee) then with Market Baskets Boycott... that was the straw that broke the camels back.

The bottom line the owners decided it was time to cut their losses.  I know for those who did frequent Yogurt Licious and more recently The Daily Juicer it will be missed.  Onward we go.

This Blog (if you've gotten this far) was originally started in 2012 as Fresh Beginnings With Juicing and was the rantings of a woman on a personal journey to better health.  That journey continues on. One thing I have learned from the past year is that people don't change their ways very easily.  And it's a constant internal tug of war to eat the right things when we live in a world where Fast Food and Processed food is the norm.

I am happy to see more and more Juice shops opening up in the area and hope that they continue to grow and prosper.

There's no escaping it.  People want real food.  It's funny, while Market Basket was being boycotted.  Except for Dairy, Meat, Vegetables, the stores looked full.   But thanks to places like the shops above people who eat out on the go are beginning to have better, healthier alternatives to the traditional fast food options.

So, while the doors at The Daily Juicer and Yogurt Licious have closed there are and will be many more that you can walk through at least in this area.  As for TheDailyJuicer.com  I will continue the original journey that I set out on back in February 2012 of creating balance and learning to live a life that includes Plant Based Foods and continue to develop and share Juice Recipes that I come up with.
I would love to encourage and welcome your contributions if you have your own healthy recipes that you would like to share on this forum.

It's Easy as A,B,C

We've changed up the Super A,B,C Extracted Juice Recipe - While we still make the old receipe at home (with Red Bell Pepper), there wasn't enough of a calling for Red Bell Pepper at the Shop, so we felt we needed to change it up.

This extracted Juice will provide you with FRESH, Fruits and Vegetables loaded with vitamins and minerals and antioxidants.  And it tastes absolutely delicious.

This Super A,B,C - depending on the size of your vegetables and the quality of your juicer should give you about 20 ounces.

Spinach - 1 Cup
Beets - 1 medium
Carrots - 3-4 depending on the size
Orange - 1 medium
Apple - 1 medium

What do these Fruits & Veggy's provide?
Spinach has twice the iron of other greens.  It is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, protecting against cancer.  It purifies the blood, regulates the body’s pH and is a rich source of lutein, promoting eye health.  Spinach is also an excellent source of the B Vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, carotenes, folic acid, magnesium and manganese. (1 cup - 7 calories - Find out more about the benefits of  here)

Beets - are energizing.  They detoxify the liver, strengthen the heart, purify the blood, protect against cancer, promote healthy digestion and lower cholesterol.  Beets are full of Vitamin B6, fiber, magnesium, folic acid, iron, manganese, potassium and phosphorus. ( 1 medium beet - 58 calories - Find out more about the benefits of Beets here
Carrots benefit the health of your skin, eyes, digestion, heart and brain.  They boost your immune system, fight aging, protect against Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, stroke, cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure and regulate blood sugar.  Carrots are full of beta-carotene, an antioxidant that converts to Vitamin A.  They are also full of the B Vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Niacin, Folic acid, manganese, potassium and fiber.  (1 medium raw carrot = 25 Calories = Find out more about the benefits of Carrots here )

Oranges provide relief from constipation, fight viral infections, help prevent kidney disease, support immune health, eye health, adrenal gland function, reproductive organs, connective tissue, gums, joints, and can lower high blood pressure and cholesterol.  Oranges are full of the B Vitamins, Vitamin C, fiber, folic acid, pantothenic acid, carotenes and potassium. (1 navell orange raw peeled - 95 calories - Find out more about the benefits of Oranges here)

Apples are a powerful antioxidant known to relieve digestive disorder.  They are a liver stimulant, diuretic, detoxify the body, have laxative and antiseptic effects, stabilize blood sugar, lower bad cholesterol and blood pressure and reduce risks of cancer, heart disease, asthma and Type 2 diabetes.  Apples are rich in Vitamin C, beta-carotene, folic acid, fiber, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. (1 medium Apple 65 calories - Find out more about the benefits of apples here )

Enjoy a Super A,B,C anytime at home, it's most enjoyable in the morning.  An if you don't have a Juice Extractor at home stop by The Daily Juicer (located at Yogurt Licious in Portsmouth, NH) for a sample!
EXTRACTED Juice is NOTHING like Juice made in a Blender or Bullet - It tastes like what you would expect a juice to taste like, smooth, clear, refreshing - Not chewy, lumpy, or thick. And fiber? Extraction removes the insoluble fiber, there's still plenty of fiber in the juice (let it sit for a minute and you'll see there is still a considerable amount of fiber in the glass) - Give it a try! Your body deserves it!

Juice Happens in Portsmouth, NH

Something special is happening and I know what it is!  More Juice and Smoothie cafes are opening up in and around Portsmouth NH and make for Having Your Juice and Drinking it Too!

Think about it.  You're out an about and maybe you forgot to have a balanced breafast and now you're famished!  But where can you get something quick and GOOD FOR YOU? Not everyone packs snacks to take with them or packs their  lunch. Face it for some people it's hard enough to get out of bed and get to the gym let along eat something healthy.  Maybe they'll have a  cup of coffee or even tea but skip on anything else worthwhile and off they go.  Then when the hunger pangs hit them they end up going for the fast and easy grab.  Which, is usually not very healthy right?  Or even worse, they don't eat anything at all, so by the time the sit down for dinner - all bets are off!

Personally I would like to see a juice bar on every corner - Drive through! "I'll have a Big Green to go please!"  and off I go.  Fortunately, for me, I have quite a few options now and I wanted to share them with you.

Next time you are in or around the Portmouth, Kittery or Dover area and are looking for FRESH JUICE - IT's HERE!

Your Business Is Vital to Our Success

The Daily Juicer -came to life because bringing Fresh Juicing into the mix at Yogurt Licious would be a excellent way to help with sales and to also provide a Healthy Alternative for their current customer base at Yogurt Licious.

The Daily Juicer is in it's 5th month of Juicing and it's FINALLY SPRING and people are starting to emerge and find TDJ.  Because Juicing is relatively new to the area, some people don't quite get it.  But hopefully with time and Samples, we will be able to turn people on to the greatness of Jucing!

And YOUR business is Vital to our success. that is why we want to ENCOURAGE and even ask for your candid reviews or comments on how we are doing and what perhaps you'd like to see us do in the future.  In the Store we have an E'List Book where we gladly accept comments, but we also encourage you to post your comments HERE, send us a personal email, or post to any of your favorite Social Pages.

We look forward to building The Daily Juicer into something that EVEYONE enjoys, and with YOUR help and Support we can do it.

Thank you for your support so Far!   Debbie Mae, The Daily Juicer

My Juicer Broke!

I am really grateful for being able to bring juicing to whoever wants to experience it with The Daily Juicer in Portsmouth.

But I still juice at home EVERY morning and this morning I had a breakdown!   My Home Juicer which is a Cuisinart CJE1000 has been a hard working - life changing appliance that works like a champ.  But this morning the hinge on the lid broke and I was crushed. Hopefully I'll have a replacement  lid sooner than later.

I realized how important this appliance has become in my every day routine- Being able to Juice at home gets me going and sets the tone for the rest of the day.  Seriously, when I don't juice in the morning I feel it.  Yes I go into The Daily Juicer every day and will have a Big Green as part of my lunch, but waking up in the morning and having a juice at 5 or 6 while still wearing my slippers, is just a great way to start the day.

After 6 months listening to people in conversations about Juciing, one of the biggest objections I hear from people when it comes to Juice Extracting AT HOME,  is the "Clean Up" required.  Well, I'm here to tell you that if you juice at home it really only takes about the same time to clean as it takes to clean say, a coffee pot.  You just get use to it.  I can make 2 Beautiful Big Green Juices and have the Juicer cleaned in 5 minutes FIVE MINUTES!

So, don't let your Juicer become just another UNUSED dust collector -Use It!  Juice it!  And Change Your Life!

GAZOONTITE!

It's that time of year! It's almost too cold to go outside. All the windows are buttoned up for the winta (at least in the east). Your breathing air that has been recirculated and if your in public places god knows who's been in and out of the places you frequent. Needless to say, you might find yourself feeling a little less than GREAT during this time of year
If you are getting your recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables you are on your way to staying healthy.  Here are a just a TINY few of some daily additions you might want to include to increase your resistance! They are easy and quick and almost everyone likes them.

There isn't just one thing that you should take to help prevent a cold or flu.  Rather its what you put in your body on a regular basis.  Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants—these are what keeps your body strong, and without them you're not giving your body the edge it needs to ward off infection."  Foods from every food group,  Make them a part of your diet for your best defense against colds and flu.

Eat or Juice More Apples - They are the most popular source of antioxidants in our diet. One apple has an antioxidant effect equivalent to 1,500 mg of vitamin C. and they are loaded with protective flavonoids, which may prevent heart disease and cancer. Raw or juiced you know what they say "An Apple A Day,.."
Monkey Around with Bananas  One of the top food sources of vitamin B6, Bananas help reduce fatigue, depression, stress and insomnia, and are high in magnesium, which keeps bones strong, and potassium, which helps prevent heart disease and high blood pressure. Eat it raw, cut it up and have it with some berries, Blend it in a Juice with some spinach and orange!

You Got A Lemon- That's A Good Thing!  Lemons are anti-bacterial, anti-viral, boost the immune system, aid in digestion, cleanse the liver, reduce fever, fight symptoms of cold and flue and help fight fatigue.  A juiced lemon is the most concentrated and potent form of Vitamin C and are rich in Vitiman B6, calcium, magnesium, potassium, folic acid and flavonoids. Add it to your juices or drink it with warm or cold water.

The list is endless-  JUST DO IT!  EAT OR DRINK your Fruits AND Vegetables and Stay Healthy this winter.

The Daily Juicer Uses These Fruits EVERY DAY!
